What happened
Three-year-old Madeleine McCann went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on 3 May 2007 and has never been found. Portuguese prosecutors lifted the formal suspect status of her parents in July 2008. The Metropolitan Police has run its own investigation, Operation Grange, since 2011. In 2020 German prosecutors named a German man as a suspect; he has not been charged in connection with her disappearance at the time of checking.
